ABOUT

Jacobs, LMT (Owner / Therapist)

Jake Jacobs, LMT is a massage therapist specializing in Clinical Sports Therapy Massage. He provides a wide range of aggressive, deep and effective treatments for sore muscles, pain reduction, increased range of motion and performance maintenance.

There is nothing relaxing about this massage!

Every visit will be different in its approach and focus. Jake will tailor each of your sessions to address your needs, at that moment, on that day. He will talk to you before, during and after your visit, asking you questions about your current condition, your training regimen/activities, injuries, pain, and discomfort, in order to target those areas where you need it the most. In addition, he will fully explain the muscle systems he works on, their function, the nature of the discomfort you may be experiencing and his plan to treat your specific issues.

TECHNIQUES

AGGRESSIVE DEEP TISSUE

Deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints).

RECIPRICAL INHIBITION

Reciprical Inhibition is the process of muscles on one side of a joint relaxing to accommodate contraction on the other side of that joint. Joints are controlled by two opposing sets of muscles, extensors and flexors, which must work in synchrony for smooth movement.

PNF

Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation stretching, is a set of stretching techniques commonly used in clinical environments to enhance both active and passive range of motion in order to improve motor performance and aid rehabilitation.

FACILITATED STRETCHING

Facilitated stretching incorporates active motion and isometric effort to improve flexibility and enhance motor learning in the process.

IDENTIFYING COMPENSATION PATTERNS

Sometimes the body adjusts to use different muscles to work around injury, sometimes it pulls new muscles into a movement because the muscles that it wants to use are too weak. We help correct these compensation patterns.

REDUCING NERVE IMPINGEMENT

Nerve impingement occurs when tight muscles impinge or pinch nerves. Nerves communicate from the brain through the spinal cord and nervous system. Pressure on the nerves can cause interference with the transmitted signal, resulting in pain, numbness and tingling.

TESTIMONIALS

“Jake hands down has given me the best massages I’ve ever had. I tend to get some pretty banged up muscles that took a lot to get them bound. I needed something more than a “deep tissue” spa massage. Jake has a firm enough touch and understanding to help me restore functionality to my muscles. I appreciate Jakes knowledge and understanding of our bodies as well as his sense of humor when those “tough” spots are putting up a fight. Jake is and will continue to be a valuable part of my lifting recovery. I completely trust his abilities and highly recommend him to anyone living an active lifestyle.”
